CARROT RIVER — Taryn Freemantle is taking over as Carrot River’s administrator, a Carrot River local who most recently worked in the insurance industry.

“I think the biggest thing I want to make a difference in is just the amount of awareness that our community and surrounding area have of what’s going on in town, and what’s available for people to do and the opportunities available,” Freemantle said. “Just getting more out in the open all the awesome things the town has and bringing more people into our community.”

Freemantle first moved to the community during childhood. She spent a brief stint in Lloydminster after university graduation, before returning to town and recently purchased an acreage.

Her education from the University of Regina includes bachelor’s degree in business administration, a diploma of business administration, and a certificate in ideation, creativity and entrepreneurship.

For the past two-and-a-half years she’s worked in the insurance field, dealing with high risk information. Freemantle said this new role as administrator is a chance to go into the career she studied for.

“Before that I worked in quite a few public sector jobs doing retail work,” she said. “I’m a little bit green on the whole administration part of things, but I have did a lot of office work and administrative type positions – just not something as big scale as this.”

Some of the past businesses she worked in include the lumber mill as well as Nipawin hotels.

Council made the resolution to hire Freemantle during a special meeting on Dec. 16. Freemantle started her first day on Jan. 3.

Freemantle describes herself as a small town girl, with interests including painting, hunting, fishing, reading, and hanging out with her dog.

“I really enjoy 小蓝视频 in Carrot River and 小蓝视频 outdoors and 小蓝视频 part of a tight knit community. I guess more than anything I’m just really looking forward to getting to know people better and making a difference. Making sure their opinions and their viewpoints are all 小蓝视频 addressed and that they feel Carrot River is home.”

In a press release, Roman Charko, Nipawin’s mayor, said both him and council are excited to continue progressing the community under the new administration.

“We are very pleased with the decision, and we are happy that Taryn accepted the offer,” Charko said. “Council is looking forward to working with Taryn going forward and we are excited to see what new ideas Taryn will bring forward.”
