A young, local musician is getting some recognition in provincial circles.Gerard Weber of Humboldt won three awards at the 2010 Saskatchewan Music Festival Association Provincial competition held June 5-6 in Prince Albert.Weber, a saxophonist, won the $300 Mary Anderson Memorial Senior Woodwind Scholarship, the $400 Blanche Squires Memorial Woodwinds award for most outstanding woodwind performance, and the Sister Boyle $1,000 award for the most outstanding competitor of the Grand Awards.Weber competed at the Saskatoon Music Festival to qualify for Provincials.As well, Weber is part of the Ellipse Saxophone Quartet which has qualified for the National Music Festival in Montreal in August.Weber just completed his first year at the University of Saskatchewan.
