The Ursuline Sisters of Bruno have put together a history book, Women of Service For The Glory of God, showcasing what consecrated women have contributed to society. The Sisters decided it was the right time to put together the book, since they are approaching their 100 year anniversary of 小蓝视频 in Canada."The Sisters came from Germany in 1912, so it's pretty much a 100 year history," said Sister Maureen Maier, osu, the author of the book. The Ursuline Order was founded by Saint Angela de Merici in 1535 in Italy, said Maier. It was created for the education of girls and the care of the sick and needy. The Ursuline Sisters were part of St. Peter's Colony when they first arrived in the area. The colony changed its name in 1921 to St. Peter's Abbacy. The abbacy became part of the Roman Catholic Diocese of Saskatoon in 1998.The Sisters served the Catholic church in a variety of ways. They taught religious education both on site and through correspondence, as well as teaching musical education."I believe that the story of the sisters' contribution to the church and society in Saskatchewan has not been adequately told," said Maier."I've always felt we need to raise our profile, so that was a big piece of what motivated me to tell what consecrated women contributed to the church and to society."A launch for the history book will be held at the Humboldt and District Museum and Gallery on the evening of June 23.
