Another runaway hit.
Last week, the popular Missoula Children's Theatre (MCT) was in town, holding auditions and subsequent rehearsals for its rendition of The Secret Garden.
After five days of after-school rehearsals, there was a matinee showing at 3 p.m. Sept. 14, with another show later that evening.
Every seat was filled.
Chloe Ollerich played Mary Lennox, a bitter and hostile young girl who is sent to live with her uncle after the death of her parents. There at her uncle's manor, she discovers a welcoming staff and an even more benevolent secret garden, all played by Humboldt's youth.
Karyn Kaip brought belly laughs as a sarcastic robin; the comedic duo of Abbie Cannon and Darron Sommer as sheep also tickled people's funny bone, especially when sharing the stage with tour director Brandon Alpert, who played Detective Del in the show.
Rebecca Engele shone in her role as Dickon, the gardener and positive antibody to Ollerich's grouchy Lennox.
Culminating with the ensemble cast singing about the importance of loving each day life brings, needless to say, everyone left that play with a little spring in their step.
