Elinor, June and Rob Florence were on hand at the Fred Light Museum Tuesday afternoon for the unveiling of a painting based on Alan Light's encounter with a ferry cable during a training mission by Marvin Schwartz.
Light, who was Fred Light's nephew, was a RCAF air trainee and was a week away from getting his wings at the RCAF Service Flight Training School Number 4. He was on a training mission when his
low-flying Cessna aircraft struck a ferry cable over the 小蓝视频 Saskatchewan River. Schwartz heard of the accident as he travelled the province painting ferry crossings. He spoke to residents of Hague who remembered the crash and was able to complete his painting. The unveiling date of June 17 was chosen because it is near the anniversary of Alan's death June 5.
The day also marked the 90th birthday for June, Alan's only remaining sibling.
