The Humboldt and District Gallery has a trio of exhibits currently on display, including an Organization of Saskatchewan Arts Councils Art on the Move exhibit, featuring work by Leah Marie Dorion.
The Exhibit entitled: Being One with the Earth, features work from Dorion, which showcases work 鈥渇irmly rooted in Traditional M茅tis teachings of her Grandmothers,鈥 noted an exhibition essay provided by OSAC.
Dorion, who was not able to attend the exhibit opening, includes teachings from other nations and territories into her paintings.
鈥淟ook at it. It鈥檚 lively, it鈥檚 colourful, it鈥檚 spring,鈥 said City of Humboldt cultural programmer Catherine Harrison.
Strength, balance, Harmony, love and resilience are all common themes throughout Dorion鈥檚 work, which is represented through symbols.
A large yellow sun is one of those symbols, notes the essay, which represents masculine qualities and strength.
Throughout Dorion鈥檚 paintings, both land and earth are not stagnant, instead have line, form, and repetition, which indicate the vibrancy of life on earth.
With Dorion鈥檚 work boasting incredible colour, Harrison encourages people to come in with an open mind and let the art do the talking.
鈥淛ust have a really good look and really enjoy it.
