The Music for the Soul Recital series returns this weekend with a concert from Jaya Hoy, Lisa Hornung and returning trumpeter Terry Heckman.
Heckman is no stranger to the Music for the Soul series, having performed with Hoy and Hornung in a concert last January. For that show he was also joined by local trumpeter Jack Tatchell.
Heckman has a well-established career as a trumpeter in Saskatoon, working as the principal trumpet of the Saskatoon Symphony since 1991 and the bandmaster of the Saskatoon Brass Band since 1998. He received a BA in music (education) from the University of Saskatchewan and a Licentiate in music (performance) from McGill.
The concert, which is the third of this year's Music for the Soul series, will feature a wide range of music, from Bach and Handel to Britten realizations of Henry Purcell and contemporary trumpet works by Hubeau and Francaix. Tickets for the show can be purchased at the concert itself, which will take place at the Third Avenue United Church this Sunday at 3 p.m.
