Maymont potluck and jam session June 22 - what an enjoyable night. Over 75 people attended and some danced. The music was great. We had over 15 musicians and I can't name them all because I don't want to miss any. Rose from Borden entertained us. She was a little nervous but did a fantastic job. Our neighbor Al from across the alley joined in on the drums with some of the musicians.
The potluck - wow, what a variety. Someone even brought celery and Cheez Whiz, nice. Desserts were delicious.
Thanks to everyone who joined us and all the entertainers for making this such a great evening.
Congratulations to all the Maymont Central School students recognized at the Living Sky School Division Student Hall of Fame celebration held June 13 at the Battleford arena. Special guest was the Honorable Russ Marchuk, Minister of Education.
Long-time residents of Maymont will remember Jimmy Rogers' little Imperial Oil service station and gas pump on the southwest corner of what is now Bill and Darlene Melrose's yard. Some will remember Jimmy's distinctive walk and Copenhagen habit as he made his way home at the end of the day.
During the 30 years as owner/operator of the service station, Jimmy and Mary (Reid) raised a family of seven children - Betty, Mary, Dick, Alice and Inez Carriere (79). Inez who lived in Saskatoon passed away last week. Some of the extended family members still in the area are Archie and Hal Robinson, who live in North Battleford. They are sons of Lance and Betty Robinson, formerly of Ruddell. Betty was the oldest of the family.
