We arrived safely Feb. 15 and the weather is great here - warm and sunny with temperatures in the high 20s. My son Bryan lives on an acreage, so there are lots of horses, dairies and sheep close by.
The Telemiracle tea held last week was attended by 48 people from Borden, Radisson, Langham and a few residents of the Borden Care Home. There were three raffle prizes, won by Gladys Wensley, Gary Palmer, and Stella Skwara, as well as about 15 door prizes by random draws.
The bake table was sold out quickly and brought in $123.25. The amount donated to Telemiracle from proceeds of the raffle and the door was $275.26.
The BCCPC (Borden Community Centre Preservation Committee) reminds you to mark your calendars for the following upcoming fundraisers.
The snowmobile rally March 10 will be followed by a ham supper at 5:30 p.m. Everyone is welcome. If the snow conditions don't improve by then, the rally will be cancelled but the supper will go ahead. Be sure to get your tickets on the cash prizes from any committee member; these draws will be made at the supper.
BCCPC will host their second annual Borden's Got Talent event April 15. Please phone Jackie Meister at 997-2062 or Florence Neufeld at 997-2130 for info or to enter.
In conjunction with Diefenbaker Days, BCCPC will be hosting their annual perogy supper and silent auction June 1.
BCCPC would like to acknowledge some very generous donations received recently. Affinity Credit Union contributed $1350.50 towards the new sound system in the community centre, while Charles Wall made a generous donation to our "roof fund", and the law firm of Mathiason, Valkenburg and Polischuk also made a donation. These and all contributions are very appreciated, and will be put to good use in making improvements to our community centre.
