It seems 2011 is the year for Ruddell area brides.
Loni Schmidt, daughter of Lee and Karen Schmidt, was "showered" at the Ruddell Centre May 7.
Charlotte Gillatt read a synopsis of Loni's life to date. Ruby Harder read an interesting anecdote of how one young man proposed to his chosen bride-to-be. Audrey Seile congratulated Loni, wished her well in her marriage commitment and presented her with the gifts. Loni thanked everyone and invited everyone to her parents' home for an "after the wedding" celebration June 25. The wedding is to be in Mexico. Loni works at Alberta Hospital as a psychiatric nurse. Loni will not be sending out Thank you cards. She appreciates all the gifts and will be making a donation to Cancer Society Relay for Life instead. Loni will be marrying Lou Legault June 14 in the Maya Riviera, Mexico. (Submitted by Karen Schmidt)
Please remember the ladies' boot camp class of Maymont will be putting a team in the annual Canadian Breast Cancer Foundation Run for the Cure. The participants are Nicole Blais, Jackie Caldwell, Joelene Gabrysh, Dawn Gray, Jess Gray, Kari Gray, Steph McIntosh, Tracey Meena, Anita Prescesky, Amanda Sevick, Jen Starycki and Kim Voegeli. Maymont's waste transfer station will be open June 11 for extra hours from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. Regular hours are Tuesday, Thursday and Saturday 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.

Maymont Sharon United Church will celebrate its centennial with a church service July 17 at 11 a.m. at the church. A lunch and program will follow at Maymont Central School. Those planning to attend are asked to contact Liz at 389-2183.
