The students at H. Hardcastle School have been busy for the past two weeks. The junior volleyball teams held their annual learning tournament on Sept. 10 with several teams joining them. The purpose of this tournament is to give the young players a chance to get some tournament experience as well as learning without the pressure of a championship at stake.
Sept.14 and 15, Boris Sichon was in the school giving workshops on rhythm to students from kindergarten to Grade 9. He also gave a performance for the entire school on the afternoon of Sept. 15. Sichon was born and raised in the Ukraine and has spent the last several years travelling to 25 different countries on five continents where he has collected local instruments and learned to play them from the native musicians. He now owns over 200 of these rare and unique instruments.
The Senior Lady Royals held their annual home tournament Sept. 16 and 17. The girls were not successful in their bid to play in the finals but gave it their best shot, losing in the semi finals in a close set. Congratulations to the Lady Royals on a well played tourney. They will be taking part in the annual Mega Volley in Maidstone on the Sept. 22 - 24 weekend. Good luck girls as well as to the boys who are also taking part.
A school wide performance by Sheldon Casavant, magician, was enjoyed by the entire student body. Students were amazed by the hand 小蓝视频 quicker than the eye. They were treated to Casavant escaping from a straight jacket within a minute and still having time left to make a balloon sculpture. The trick that intrigued some of the students the most was the levitating of a table. A performance enjoyed by all.
Harvest is progressing quickly with the weather holding. Temperatures have dropped at night, but they have been warm during the day. This has allowed the farmers to get the crop into the bins and the feed up for the livestock. Before long the calves will be headed to market and the producers will be picking out the calves they will be taking into the annual Edam Fall Fair that will be taking place the last Saturday in October.
