Sympathy is extended to the family of Sylvia Bowghen who passed away in Maidstone hospital following a short illness.
Sylvia had been working in Lloydminster prior to her illness. The family is planning a burial service to be held in Nipawin at a date in spring.
Nov. 16, the centennial committee held their final meeting at Waseca Community Centre. All business in connection with Waseca's 100th anniversary celebration was wrapped up. Surplus funds were distributed to village organizations to be used for specified projects. Members of the committee were please with the co-operation of community members in making the celebration a successful event.
Did you know that when settlers first came to North America there were millions of passenger pigeons? These colourful birds flew south every winter in huge flocks. Due to the killing of the passenger pigeons for food and the destruction of forests where they nested there are now none left. They were eliminated many years ago.
