Varying weather results in varying sounds outdoors

First there were the sounds of Rototillers followed by the song of frogs and the chorus of geese and then the silence of snow. What these last few days have been! This weekend there has been enough moisture to make the grid roads a real mess.

First there were the sounds of Rototillers followed by the song of frogs and the chorus of geese and then the silence of snow. What these last few days have been!

This weekend there has been enough moisture to make the grid roads a real mess. Perhaps it is better to be optimistic and think of this as starter for the pastures and for the seed that is soon be sown.

Congratulations go out to Katherine Hildebrand and Dave Vandergrucht who were married in Saskatoon April 28. Katherine is the daughter of George and Melita Hildebrand of Rabbit Lake. We wish Dave and Katherine a long and happy married life.

The community sends its condolences to Ken, Kevin, and Neil Ricketts and to Elaine Kuffert and their families on the passing of their mother Laura Ricketts, who most recently made her home in Spiritwood but lived many years in the Meeting Lake and Rabbit Lake communities. Laura owned and operated the Rabbit Lake Caf茅 and was the first librarian for the Rabbit Lake library. Our thoughts also go out to Vic Ricketts, who is a brother-in-law to Laura.

Over the next month the Rabbit Lake library will be doing a cans and bottle drive. This fundraiser helps the library host events for the community throughout the year. If you wish to donate cans or bottles there is a large can located on the sidewalk in front of the library.

The Village of Rabbit Lake will be holding its annual community cleanup May 19. Many hands make light work so bring your trimmers, rakes, trucks or whatever and pitch in. The landfill will be open that day so it might be a good day to plan your personal spring cleaning events. A chili lunch will be held at the Rabbit Lake Seniors' Sunrise Circle for those who pitch in.

Some Rabbit Lake students participated in the taekwondo tournament held in Medstead April 28. We look forward to hearing how these young martial artists made out.
