The 21st annual Svoboda Dance Festival brought dancers from across the prairies to the Don Ross Centre, April 8 to 10.
The Svoboda Dancers of North Battleford were joined by the Lloydminster Malanka Dancers, the Rosthern Ukrainian Dance, the Rushnychok Ukrainian Folk Dance Association, the Saskatoon School of Dance, Sonia's School of Ukrainian Dance, the Two Hills Ukrainian Dancers, the Vesnianka Academy of Ukrainian Dance and guest performers, the Zorya Dancers of North Battleford.
For solo dances, the following awards were won by Svoboda Dancers:
Drew Beavers won the N. Karchmarskey Memorial Award of $25 for highest mark in the Female Hutsul, any age, the Tropical Inn Trophy/Anderson Pumphouse $25 award for Promising Female National, 12 years and under and the Fedler Electric $25/Joyce Koliniak Memorial Award for Promising Female Svoboda Dancer, 12 years and under.
Natalya Shevchuk won the Sobey's Award of $25 for highest mark in the Female Transcapathian, any age, the All Saints Ukrainian Women's Catholic League Award of $25 for highest mark in the Female National, 11 to 12 years and the Fedler Electric Award of $25 for highest mark to a Svoboda female dancer, any age.
Mitchell Bristow took home the Milbanke Flowers Award of $25 for highest mark in the Male Volyn, any age, the Scott Campbell Dodge Award of $25 for highest mark in the Male National, 15 to 16 years, the Guy's Furniture Award of $25 for Promising Male National, 13 years and over and the Kotyk Memorial Award of $25 for Promising Svoboda Male Dancer, any age.
Corey Koliniak won the Super 8 Motel Award of $25 for highest mark in the Male Central, any age, the Taco Time Award of $25 for highest mark in the Male National, 9 to 10 years, the Roman and Elizabeth Ewanchuk Trophy/Guy's Furniture $25 award for Promising Male National, 12 years and under, the Fedler Electric Award of $25 for highest mark to a Svoboda male dancer, any age and the Porta Bella's Restaurant Award of $25 for Promising Male Svoboda Dancer, 12 years and under.
Alicia Hydukewich won the Ann Harbus Trophy/Anderson Pumphouse $15/SDFA $10 award for Promising Female National, 13 years and over.
Bethany McQuaid took home the Fedler Electric Award of $25 for Promising Female Svoboda Dancer, 13 years and over.
Brandon Klima won the Porta Bella's Restaurant Award of $25 for Promising Male Svoboda Dancer, 13 years and over.
Kaitlin Friesen won the Kotyk Memorial Award of $25 for Promising Svoboda Female Dancer, any age.

Khrystia MacKinnon and Natalya Shevchuk won the Sadlowski Trophy/Intercity Pharmacy $50 award for highest mark in Character, 12 years and under.
Alicia Hydukewich and Bethany McQuaid won the Logan's Day Spa Award of $50 for highest mark in Female National, 15 to 16 years, the Peter Radyk Memorial Trophy/Battleford Furniture $50 award for highest mark in Female Hutsul, 13 years and over and the Prystupa Trophy and $25/H.Zamonsky Insurance $25 award for Svoboda Dancers open highest mark, any age.
Katie Bristow and Mitchell Bristow won the Natalie and Dave Remeshylo Trophy/Sask Energy $50 award for Most Promising Mixed in the open category, any age.
Katie Bristow and Bethany McQuaid won the Kiwanis Club of the Battlefords Award of $50 for Svoboda Dancers Most Promising Female National, any age.
Corey Koliniak and Noah Mamprin won the Kiwanis Club of the Battlefords Award of $50 for Svoboda Dancers Most Promising Male National, any age.
Mitchell Bristow and Taylor Cave won the H. Zamonsky Insurance Award of $50 for Svoboda Dancers Most Promising Mixed National, any age.
The following are small groups (3 to 6 dancers) awards won by Svoboda Dancers:
P8 Central Ukraine Mixed Small Group, 5 to 6 years, won the Rainbow Toyota Award of $100 for highest mark in the open novice category, and the Charabin Seed Farm Award of $100 for Most Promising Svoboda Small Group in the open 12 and under category.
C6 Character Female Small Group won the Innovation Credit Union Award of $100 for highest mark in the open 9 to 10 years category.
P8 Central Ukraine Mixed Small Group, 13 to 14 years won the Ultra Print $50/Kim's Signs of the Times $50 award for Most Promising Svoboda Small Group in the open, 13 and over category.
The large group awards, for groups with over seven dancers, were won by Svoboda Dancers.
T-11 Mixed Large Group, 7 to 8 years, won the SDFA $175/Battlefords Ukrainian Canadian Cultural Council $100 award for highest mark in the open, 7 to 8 years category.
HOPAK Mixed Large Group won the Gold Eagle Casino/SIGA $200 and Country Cuisine $50/Kachmarsky Memorial $25 award for highest mark in the open, 11 to 12 years category.
V-11 Volyn Mixed Large Group, 15 to 16 years won the Beta Sigma Phi Trophy and Beta Sigma Phi/Laureate Kappa Chapter $300 award for Svoboda Dancers highest mark in the open, any age category.
The following Adjudicator's Choice Awards were won by Svoboda Dancers:
Kaitlin Kleiwer won the Youth Dance Ambassador Award for Saskatchewan residents 12 years and over, which includes membership to Dance Saskatchewan, free tuition to workshops and master classes in 2011 and exposure on the Dance Saskatchewan website.
