The UCW held their annual spring, tea, plant and bake sale May 14 in the Speers Recreation Centre. It was well attended by people from Speers, Hafford, Maymont, North Battleford and Richard.
The raffle prizes were drawn for and the winners were Marion Whalberg, Jean Pelltier, Natalie Rebeyka and Denise Zypchen.
The Speers jam sessions are a big hit with musicians and listeners alike. Many people get up to dance and enjoy themselves, as did 91-year-old Louisa from the Oasis Care Home in Speers. Other residents from the care home were there to enjoy the music and to cheer Louisa on. Janine Miller, employee of the car home, was Louisa's partner.
Sincere sympathy of the Richard district goes out to the family and friends of Norman Russell and Alice Baker, who both passed away recently.
Recent visitors with Colleen and Norman Wicks of Speers were Cameron and Wanda Smith of Chilliwack, B.C. They also visited with Wanda's brother, Clint and Kerrie Thomas, Jasmine, Tamara and Dannielle of Saskatoon, Denise Thomas and Jorda and Elaine Milman of North Battleford and Marguerete Zunich of Saskatoon.
