Can you identify the major buildings and the date of this photograph?

For the past three years, to celebrate Archives Week in February, the City of North Battleford Historic Archives has set up displays at the Co-op Mall and the Frontier Mall.

The aerial maps displayed initiated discussion on the year of the photograph. Archives volunteers have been able to identify dates by visitors knowing what year houses, garages, schools and business building additions were constructed.

Our visitors have helped us date numerous photographs. One guest pointed out the original golf club house when it was located on ball park hill (King Hill) in 1952.

We are requesting assistance in locating aerial photographs of the city. Pictures, original photographs or negatives and any information about the time of the photograph would be welcomed.

Our goal is to locate aerial photographs for all years possible.

The collection of archival material is an ongoing project. Anyone in possession of material relating to the community is urged to contact the archives at 445-1786, e-mail [email protected] or contact any committee member.

Meanwhile, we invite you to visit us in Room 111 at the Don Ross Centre to see for yourself the archival materials and the care taken for their preservation. Please contact the archives to make arrangements for your visit.
