Art Jones 'whittles' away his time at the Honeywood (Dr. A. J. Porter) Heritage Nursery Inc. Touch of Autumn event Sept. 18.

The sun shone bright for the guests, exhibitors and musical entertainers Sunday Sept. 18 as Honeywood (Dr. A. J. Porter) Heritage Nursery held its annual Touch of Autumn event.

Henriette Schultz displayed her extra-ordinary work of cross-stitched portraits; Jim Peake had a display of native artifacts; Hannigan honey producers were available selling their honey, beeswax candles and fudge; Doug Peake demonstrated the art of wood turning while Art Jones demonstrated the technique of whittling. Friends of Honeywood sold fresh fruit and vegetables while other volunteers were busy serving pie and beverages in the Porter cabin.

A large inventory of nursery stock was available for purchase and Judy Harley, manager, led guests on guided walking tours throughout the nursery. The foliage was just beginning to turn into its spectacular display; some trees were affected by the hard frost the previous week. Overall, it was a pleasant afternoon and a successful way to end the season.
