"It takes teamwork to make this show beautiful, don't try this at home," said Mr. Zee as the African Acrobats delighted and amazed the students of Ratushniak Elementary School in Maidstone last week.
The group came to the school because of a last minute cancellation and was a surprise for students who clapped, cheered and watched in wide-eyed awe as the five performers, dressed in shimmering gold, demonstrated feats of strength, balance and flexibility.
The group is from Mombasa on the coast of Kenya and during the show discussed and taught a few words of Swahili to the audience.
They have been together for five years practicing two hours at a time, twice a day. Members of the group shared different talents in the various segments including limbo, hoop diving, human pyramid building, chair stacking and contortion with a hoop.
The performance was woven together with rhythm, dance and humour and inspired the students while making them smile.
