A North Battleford Comprehensive High School debate team participated in a debate at Walter Murray Collegiate in Saskatoon Jan. 14 and brought home a few medals.
Sean Newton and Taisley Isaac placed first in the novice category after winning both rounds of debate. Newton also came home with first place speaker, and Isaac was in second.
The resolution set for the day was: be it resolved that this house should ban offshore drilling.
Newton and Isaac participated in two rounds of debate.Their first round, they were against the resolution, and in the second round they debated for the resolution. They won both their rounds.
Although winning medals was a bonus, what was most appreciated was the experience that will help them throughout life.
