Well we are either catching up on rest after Telemiracle weekend, enjoying the lingering effects of the Brier in Saskatoon or still celebrating the fact winter gave us another blast, it was minimal and short lived. Any way you put it, they are plenty of things to smile about..
We had a chance to take in several draws of the Brier. It was great fun watching the entire place cheering loudly for Team Manners from Saskatchewan, as well as all the fan favourites. If you still have a chance to see this event live, the catch phrase is right "You gotta be there!"
Local Grade 6 student, Madison Gilbert, had a first hand experience in discovering what drives all the forces behind each year's successful Telemiracle. As part of a research project for her class at UPS, Madison chose Telemiracle as a project she was passionate about. She has had relatives receive funding, her grandparents were long time Kinsmen and Kinettes, her dad was always involved in projects, her mom has performed twice at Telemiracle and Madison is a singer and dancer herself. Madison was able to witness first hand every area of Telemiracle behind the scenes that make the production go smoothly. She also had many opportunities to meet members of the cast. Executive director, Joan Steckhan, told me they were as happy to have Madison with them as Madison was happy to be there.
