Bob Gregoire's Annual Sledding Funfest is coming up this weekend, March 5 and 6 at his farm outside Baldwinton. There are no fees to participate. Camp Circle of Friends will benefit from the money raised this weekend. A newly constructed slide sits atop the hill west of his farmyard. There will be a wiener roast, marshmallows and probably also some slow cooker chilli on a bun. Bring your whole family and come enjoy a day of fun in the snow. We hope for nice weather this weekend.
The annual wildlife supper is also coming up on Friday, March 4 at the Cut Knife Curling Rink. Doors open at 5 p.m., supper will be served at 6:30 p.m. and tickets can be bought at the door. Ticket prices are: adults $10, children six to 12 $7, and children under 6 free. Most of the food is donated, and it promises to be as good as every year.
Women's World Day of Prayer will also be celebrated March 4 at Our Lady of Perpetual Help Roman Catholic Church in Cut Knife at 11 a.m., with lunch to follow. This year, the Chilean women invited women all around the world to participate in the event, and the theme this year is "How many loaves have you."
The World Day of Prayer began in the 19th century. This annual event became the Woman's World Day of Prayer in 1927. The Canadian committee changed its name to become the Women's Inter-church Council of Canada and now includes representative for 11 church partners. This council continues to co-ordinate the World Day of Prayer in Canada and to speak to issues that concern women of faith across the country.
