The city galleries are looking for a field with junked cars to act as a canvas to display the art of Tyler Brett.

He's this year's featured artist for the fourth edition of the North Battleford Sculpture Symposium, titled Big Things.

A rural site is needed for the artist to work for five days, Aug. 15-19, to produce his new piece entitled Stationary Bicycle Shelter.

"It's an opportunity to get involved with the gallery and you can be a patron of contemporary art," said Marcus Miller, director of galleries.

"He makes temporary sculpture using big, heavy things and then he documents it with still photographs and video. He then dismantles it and leaves the site as he found it. So basically, these sculptures exist only in documentation," said Miller, adding that as an incentive, the galleries are also giving away one-year memberships to those who help support the project.

Tyler has shown his work across the country (and most recently in Iceland) and from Bruno where he organizes exhibitions, artist-residencies and live music events.

If you have an available site and want to support thought-provoking, contemporary art, please contact Marcus Miller at 306-445-1760 or e-mail [email protected]
