The outdoors looked quite different Monday morning. Sunday the trees were covered with hoar frost - a beautiful sight. Monday the trees were bare. Both mornings, but Sunday in particular, driving was difficult with heavy fog making visibility almost nil in some places.
March weather is generally changeable and this March has been no different. We've seen quite a bit of snow at different times that has melted, causing icy roads when the temperatures fell, as they did at times. Country roads have been "messy" when the snow melted.
An unfortunate event took place early in the week when Bill and Linda McGilvery's shop burned in the night. The fire was spotted by an oilfield worker, who alerted the McGilverys. As with all fires, many irreplaceable items were lost.
A benefit evening for the McGilverys will be held at Maidstone Drop In Centre Thursday evening, March 29 beginning with a potluck supper at 5 p.m.
Easter Sunday service will be celebrated in St. Paul's Forest Bank in the afternoon at the usual time.
St. Paul's Church will soon have an interesting addition. The late Irene Oakes, a former Forest Bank resident, was an avid crocheter. Her daughter and son-in-law, Joan and Vern Kinley, had a large, framed crocheted version of the Lord's Prayer crafted by Irene. Since Joan and Vern are in the process of moving to a smaller residence, they have donated this item to St. Paul's. Thank you, I am sure those who attend and visit St. Paul's will enjoy it.
Bill Pike recently returned from a visit with Murray and Lynn Blyth at Yuma, Ariz.
