The Borden Friendship Club hosted seniors from Radisson, Maymont and Sonningdale June 14 in their club room, with 33 guests and 40 Borden members in attendance.
The entertainment for the afternoon was Heavenly Hash backed up by fiddle player James Steele and Sam Derbawka playing guitar. Heavenly Hash consists of Zane Bahrey on guitar, Ray Schmatz, guitar and vocals, Oliver Siba on saxophone and Maurice Bahrey playing accordion. They entertained with many old time and gospel tunes for over an hour with a coffee break in between, then James and Sam played many toe-tapping tunes for another half hour.
James, who is the student hired for Borden Museum, was Saskatchewan Junior fiddle champion in 2010 and is going to nationals in July.
Close to 30 door prizes were given out to guests before everyone enjoyed supper, catered to by Dianne Rawlyk and Bernice Buell. Each club thanked Borden for an enjoyable afternoon and great food.
Congratulations to Tyler Golding, son of Bill and Charmaine Golding of Borden, who received his Bachelor of Education degree from the University of Saskatchewan in May, majoring in history with a minor in kinesiology.
