Christmas isn't just for the kids and in Maidstone the seniors prove it can be the most wonderful time of the year.
Sunday evening the Seniors' Drop-In Centre hosted their annual Christmas supper and program. Everyone enjoyed a traditional Christmas dinner and the time to visit with friends and neighbours who braved the cold and snow for the event.
The program committee was in fine form organizing a show offering laughs, smiles and memories of days of old.
Mayor Connie McCulloch brought a greeting from the town of Maidstone. She thanked the group for their involvement in the community and spoke about traditions both old and new.
Reeve Gary Taylor told a few jokes and extended Christmas greetings from the RM of Eldon.
Guest performers were Vince Gerlinsky on the keyboard, who provided background music and led in the singing of carols, and Jenny Bedwell, who performed beautiful renditions of Jingle Bell Rock and Silent Night.
Members of the Drop-In Centre performed humourous skits including I Want a Divorce, Rich Girl, Poor Girl and Feeling Helpless. Others read verses, some stirring memories and some poking fun at the golden age.
The evening ended with a piece of fruitcake and an orange, a cup of coffee and more visiting, and many wishes for a merry Christmas.
