Hi there! It's hard to believe that it's December now and nearly Christmas time again. We can certainly tell that in our lounge as we see a beautifully decorated tree in the corner and the rest of the room with other lovely Christmas decorations.
There's no doubt folks 'tis the season to be merry.
We did have a busy November here. Our shuffleboard tournament was held on Nov. 8th and 9th. Seven teams entered and they were 1. Mary Dearborn and Edith Lockhart 2. Cecile Dupius and Katie Fehr 3. Joan Blixrud and Ruby Hrabia 4. Ernie Wawryk and Mary Birch 5. Josie Wood and Ada Pasutto 6. Anna Storgard and Rosemarie Rolheiser 7. Nancy Milnthorp and Doug Vetter.
After a great deal of fun for two days the winners were declared for the A Event - Cecile Dupuis and Laurine Wohlberg (sub); B Event - Joan Blixrud and Ruby Hrabia; C Event - Nancy Milnthorp and sub, Ernie Wawryk and Mary Birch, Josie Wood and Ada Pasutto.
Thank you to the subs - Winifred Webb, Barb Foot and Laurine Wohlberg.
After awards were given out, we all enjoyed lunch and coffee.
Thank you to all who participated.
We had a Fire Safety Meeting with deputy fire chief Kevin Steinborn recently.
He always gives us so much valuable information and so many safety tips for us to follow to prevent fires in our suite here or your home. Too many to state here but Kevin did say it is important to not leave cooking on your stove unattended and unplug all electric applicanes when not in use (except your TV). Also see that your electrical cords are all in good condition, not frayed or cracked. Smoke alarms are important and know who to phone if a fire does occur.
Our birthday party for October, November and December was held Nov. 21 at 2 p.m. in the lounge.
Those celebrating in October are: Elden Jone, Albert Friebal, William Labbe, Bob Sarrasin, Joe Thomas, Dr. Tivana, Helen Blackstock and Murray McCrimmon; in November - Virginia Leask, Ruby Hrabia and Marvin Philips; in December - Rosmarie Rohlheiser, Alice Holmes, Anne Hryniuk, Maxine Finch and Barbara Foat.
Congratulations and best wishes to you all. We were so glad to have the Eagle Hill Band entertain us again and to have Don Mitchell join them on his violin. It was nice that they also played and had a sing song of wonderful Christmas music. Afterwards everyone enjoyed our dessert of cake, ice cream and strawberries. Thank you to all those who helped to make this such a lovely afternoon.
Get well wishes go out to Dorothy Crush and Joe Thomas who are in the hospital now.
We are glad to see Shirley Williams back home again after 小蓝视频 hospitalized.
Margaret Jimmie went to the hospital just recently so we hope she will soon be feeling better.
Welcome to Shirley Tebe and Bep Wyatt who are moving to our high rise this month. Hope you will both enjoy living here.
This will be my last report until after Christmas. I hope everyone will save up lots of news of how you spent the holidays.
Have a wonderful Christmas everyone. Drive safely if you must travel.
See you next month.
