This province is home to many who like to read and many talented, award winning and recognizable writers.

Saskatchewan Library Week will be celebrated in libraries across the province Oct. 17 to 24. This year the theme is "Read Local."

The Maidstone Library will fill the display case with the work of local and provincial authors and offer unique programming throughout the week.

Tuesday, Oct. 18 yoga teacher Shannon Smith will be offering a yoga demonstration from 2:30 - 3:30 p.m. Wednesday, Oct. 19 will feature two events starting with a miniature moccasin making workshop from 1 to 4 p.m. This workshop will be facilitated by artist Audrey Fineday and because there is limited space pre-registration will be required for this session.

Wednesday evening from 6:30 to 7:30 p.m. there will be a program for school aged children called "Crazy for Cupcakes." Participants will listen to a story, have a chance to look at some of the popular cupcake decorating books available from the library and create a piece of edible art.

Friday mornings throughout the school year are always busy with pre-school story time beginning at 10 a.m. This program is open to children who have passed their third birthday and offers parents a chance to visit during the session. During library week parents will be able to enjoy a special snack provided by members of the library board.

The library is a busy place in Maidstone and Saskatchewan Library Week is a perfect time to explore its programs and resources.
