The junior volleyball teams started their league play Sept. 27. The girls hosted John Paul II and Hafford. The boys played their games in Hafford. This week both teams played their games at John Paul II. They are putting forth great efforts and increasing their volleyball skills in every game.

The senior girls and both junior teams attended Maidstone's Megavolley. The senior girls advanced to the Championship side, playing well all weekend. The junior girls made it to the semi-finals on the consolation side and the boys played with enthusiasm and sportsmanship all weekend. They all reported it was a great experience and they learned a lot.

The senior girls hosted a four-team tournament Oct. 1. Thanks to Hafford School for making two teams when one of the other teams had to drop out at the last minute. The Maymont team finished in second place, losing to Medstead in the final.

Our senior soccer team has been very busy too. They won their first game of the season in Rosthern. They attended a tournament in Rosthern Oct. 1. They had a great day and finished second. They also had a game in Dundurn against Hanley. They rolled to a 5-4 victory over Hanley. The team was led by Chad Bernier who scored four goals and Reegan Johnston who scored the fifth goal.

We also have a junior soccer team this year made up of students from Grades 7, 8, and 9. They played their first game Oct. 3. They are a new team and lost the game, but they learned a lot about movement and making plays and gave it a gallant effort.

Two of last year's Grade 12 class received the proficiency award for their academic proficiency. They each received a $400 scholarship. They are Justin Gillatt and Lukas Smith. Congratulations to you both.

The school will be hosting a community breakfast Thursday, Oct. 20 as part of our Education Week celebrations.
