David Gillatt of Lilac Electric held a business closing customer appreciation night at the Maymont Hotel Feb. 25. Many past customers showed up. There were even nine customers from when David worked for the previous employer.
In his speech, David said it had been slightly more than 37 and one-half years that he had worked in the electrical industry. The first nine were with the late Harry Derbowka of Borden. That included the time spent apprenticing and writing and passing the journeyman's exam. Lilac Electric was in operation for 28 and one-half years.
The first electrical job Harry and David worked on was the new RM office in Speers and the building is still standing so they did something right. The last electrical project David worked on was at Julie Primeau's at Richard. David thanked the customers for giving him a call when they wanted some work done. He also thanked Dawn Gray, Jennifer Combres, Pat Beaudoin, Lana Spence and Tracey Pickering for preparing the food and the work involved with the night.
