Maymont Legends 2 - another sold out event. First of all I'd like to thank the hall committee for all the help they gave to make this event a success, and also Jon Sloan and the backup band of Dale Paulow, Doreen Duchnitski and Wilf Rice who gave up two Saturdays in a row to come and practise with the performers. Without these volunteers we would not be able to do what we do. I would also like to give a special thanks to our performers Frank Ervin, Ray Cox, Glen Julseth, Jae Lynn Rempel and April LaFreniere who all performed as if they were professionals. What a performance you all gave.
And lastly we have Elvis (Melvis), Mel Deagnon who gave quite a performance, all the way from the Oasis Nursing Home in Speers. He also had his own private nurse (me). What fun we had with that performance and no, we did not have the ladies who joined Elvis at the front of the stage and fought over the scarves he was throwing into the crowd. If you missed this year's Legends, wait until you see what we have for next year.
Congratulations to Murel Kotelko who won $345.00 on our 50/50 draw.
If you are wondering what we use the money for from our event, here are just a few things we have done so far. We have a new roof on the hall; we've purchased new toilets for our downstairs washroom; we took off the paneling in the basement, painted the walls and put in new carpet; we've purchased a dehumidifier, sump pumps, and we also have two new washrooms upstairs in our hall. Our latest purchase was 100 new chairs. We still have several other projects we'd like to complete and your help by attending our functions will help us do that. Thank you.
Anyone wanting to purchase a DVD of Legends 2, please contact Mel or Carol. The DVDs are selling for $10 and some of the proceeds will go towards Maymont Memorial Hall. Thanks to Dorothy and Bob Caldwell for doing this for us.
We'd also like to send out a very special thank you to Mary and Poa Les Charlton who made a donation to the Maymont Hall of $1,000.
A CD Release Nov. 12 in Maymont at the Maymont Memorial Hall will start at 7 p.m. with Saskia and Darrel in concert. Part of the proceeds will go for hall upkeep and continues renos.
Sharon United Church put on their fowl supper Oct. 16. What a turnout; thanks for coming. Also thank you for the great supper. It takes a lot of hard work and dedication to put on such an event. You did a great job, ladies.

A parent's wish (note to children from parents): if, when we speak to you, we repeat the same things over and over again, do not interrupt us - listen to us. When you were small, we had to read to you a thousand and one times the same story until you went to sleep
