Children were lined up around the block at Emmanuel Pentecostal Fellowship to get in on the fun and games at the free Kids' Carnival, Aug. 24.
The carnival was a three-hour event where children were able to participate in free games, shows and obtain free food and prizes. They were given free cotton candy, funnel cakes, snow cones, hot dogs, popcorn and lemonade. They joined others in the fun playing games including: pond-pick, fish-float, slapshot, prize walk, hoopla, balloon darts, coin-drop, pick-a-pop and penny-pitch. By playing these games the kids earned carnival bucks which they were able to spend at the prize tent. They also enjoyed an illusionist, a puppet show, a craft, elephant rides and balloon animals.
"It was super fun! The best game was balloon darts. I liked all the games and winning prizes. I even won a fish from the fish-float game," said Keegan, a child participant.
A total of 239 kids came to the carnival, along with numerous parents making the total number of people attending over 400.
The carnival was hosted at Emmanuel Pentecostal Fellowship and was organized by Michele Isaac. They were supported by many community businesses: McGuffy's News, Tim Hortons, Sobeys, Co-op, both locations of The Dollar Store With More, North Battleford Swimming Pool, No Frills Gas Station, McDonald's, Krazy Kones and Fisher`s Drugstore.
The carnival's purpose was to show the young people of the Battlefords that they are loved and valued by our church, the community and most of all by God. The carnival was a huge success and Emmanuel Pentecostal is considering making it an annual event.
