Hobby band resumes practises at Do Drop In

Golfers 55 and older invited to join in senior day Thursdays.

MEOTA — It tried in vain to rain Sunday, but will have to try again if it wants to be of any help to the crops going in. The fields throughout the area are covered with geese of every kind, mainly white snow geese. The Paynton Ferry is operating again, taking light loads, if you like to use the shortcut across to Lloydminster country.

The Meota Hobby Band met on Tuesday morning, May 3, for a fun practice. They haven't met since COVID started a couple years ago. Anyone who plays an instrument, young or old, is welcome to join this group. They need some younger players who would enjoy a couple hours of musical fun, to show up. Their next tentative practice date will be May 17, at the Do Drop In at 10 a.m.

The Lions’ Club report the golf cart did some travelling with the ice before it was retrieved so they could read the date and time that it sank. This was May 2 at 10:02 and the lucky winner of the $1,000. was Tanya Burgess.

Bridge was played May 3, in the pioneer Hall, with three tables in play. Top score went to Lucille and Bernard Gregoire. Tied for second were Etta Meisner and Barb Mitchell, along with Linda Ard and Vern Iverson. May 5, with two and half tables, the top score went to Margaret Dyck and Dave Creegan while second were Anna Marie Waldbillig and Vern Iverson.

Senior golf starts May 12 with registration at 9:30 a.m. at the golf course. All 55 and up are welcome to the shotgun start. Contact Eric at 306-480-5675 with questions.

COVID vaccinations are available at the Frontier Centre Wednesday and Thursday afternoons from 1 to 4 p.m.

Eighteen people gathered at the Do Drop In May 6 to enjoy a great evening together playing Canasta.  We were happy to have an old regular back from Edam Manor. Coming down with Dave and Marion Ottas was Jack Stewart. Also attending, after 小蓝视频 missed for months, were Paulette and Terry Neale from south of Battleford. The top score went to the six-member table of Vern Iverson, Gwen Lacerte and Vivianne Lesko. Second were Paulette Neale and Gail Hildermanhird was the other table of six - Arlene Walker, Terrry Neale and Lorna Pearson. All tables were finished about the same time and socializing continued.

The pins went in May 4 and Mother's Day weekend saw steady traffic at Meota golf course.

The first sponsored men's night is by Silvester Glass May 24. The first sponsored ladies' night is by Remax of the Battlefords - Dorothy Lehman June 1. Seniors start May 12 at 10 a.m. and continue on Thursdays.

The course has a new management team of Brenda Mohr and Huguette Johnson, as well lots of staff returning with a few new faces. Travis Mocassin and his crew have done a great job getting the course in shape.
