Santa's red and purple elves were back at it again this week in Maidstone. The Royal Eccentric Dynamic Hatters added a lot of glimmer and glitz to the atrium of the Maidstone Health Complex in preparation for their Festival of Trees later this month. The group is currently accepting donations of cash and decorated Christmas trees as well as other holiday items for the silent auction.

Last year the group raised over $10,000, purchasing a sound system and satellite dish system for Pine Island Lodge, art to decorate the halls of the building and a portable defibrillator for the Maidstone Arena.

The Festival of Trees will be set up in the atrium of the Maidstone Health Complex from Monday Nov. 21 to Friday Nov. 25, with viewing and bidding from 9 a.m. until 4 p.m. The atrium will be open for a final day of bidding from 10 a.m. until 8 p.m. Nov. 26, with live entertainment beginning at 2 p.m.

All the money raised during the Festival of Trees goes to fund comforts for the residents and patients of Pine Island Lodge and the Maidstone Health Complex and for health benefits for the community. To register a donation or for more information, please contact Gloria Fehr at 893-4535 or 893-7148.
