Glorious fall weather enjoyed

Hi there! What a beautiful September we've had. The brilliant colours of gold and orange over the river alley and the city are just breathtaking. We do hope October will be nice as well. We've had a busy month at Tower II. Sept.

Hi there! What a beautiful September we've had. The brilliant colours of gold and orange over the river alley and the city are just breathtaking. We do hope October will be nice as well.

We've had a busy month at Tower II.

Sept. 1 and 2 we had a garage and bake sale. We were pleased to raise $942.56. Two lovely cakes were raffled and they were won by Ruby Hrabia and Stella Goll. Nancy Milnthrop was happy to win a pictue. Congratulaitions to all.

Then a barbecue of hamburgers was enjoyed by all Sept. 16. Harry Smith does a good job of cooking them just right. Thanks to all who helped. Afterwards we had Joan and Wilf Rice, Dale Updyke and Bob Mallet entertain us with their great singing and music.

Our birthday party for July, August and September was held Sept. 19. Those celebrating in July were Martha Spielman, Dorothy Crush, Cecile Dupris. Born in August are Melvina Lewis, Anne Ewanchuk, Doug Vetter, Laurel Rascher, Mildred Kleiv and Viola Chuhanuk. September celebrants are John Wiebe, David Toth, Katie Fehr, Darlene Fisher, Dwayne Labbe, Mrs. Tiwana, Nancy Milnthorp and Bev Brundig. They didn't all attend but congratulations go out to everyone.

We all enjoyed a game of Kaiser bingo too and then our tasty dessert of cake, ice cream and strawberries. Thank you to everyone who helped make this such a fun evening.

Sept 24, it was wonderful to have Marie Day (long time resident, but now living at Villa Pascal) come over here to celebrate her 100th birthday with a come and go tea. Her family and friends gathered around her to wish her well and to sing Happy Birthday. She looked so lovely and certainly didn't seem that age at all. We all enjoyed delicious goodies and a chance to visit. Congratulations again, Marie.

We also must congratulate Anna Roberts who celebrated her 99th birthday at the seniors' centre Sept. 24. Anna used to live here, but is now living at River Heights Lodge. It would be nice to go there and visit her to wish her the best.

Josie Wood was pleased to have a niece come to visit her from Ontario recently.

Cecile Dupris had a brother travel from Port Albernie, B.C. to see her. I'm sure you had a great time visit, Cecile.

Ann Ewanchuk's daughter, Erinka Jordan, drove them to Reigna. Enrika's daughter started teaching school. Her class is young children who are new Canadians. She also teaches them soccer, zumbo (in an adult class) and attends her classes in Ukrainian dancing.

Ann attended a potluck birthday supper at Slawa Hall. As guests she had her granddaughter Leska Ewanchuk and escort Craig. Ann was one of the August birthday guests.

With her sister-in-law Sylvia Chasko, Ann attended a 75th birthday party for Victor Iwanchuk and a few days later was at Marie Day's 100th birthday party in Tower II.

Friday, her friend Elsie Pluta drove Ann to Saskatoon to visit Ann's two friends. She had not seen Marion Frazer Harrington for 10 years, and a school friend, Jean Lindsay Chrispen, she had not seen for over 50 years.

On the way home from Saskatoon they stopped in at Hafford where funeral prayers were held for Ann's aunt Helen Bomok.

Last Sunday, Ann went to her great-granddaughter's first birthday party. The party for little Callie Ewanchuk was held at the home of Nicholas and Lindsie Ewanchuk. She is grateful to son Orest and Chris for driving her there and back home.

We have many newcomers who have moved into the tower recently. A hearty welcome goes to Murray McCremane and wife Anita, Hala McHugh, Marvin Phillips, Mary Birch, Bev Brundige, Cyril and Helen Pasoce and Oliver Gamble. We hope you will join in all the activities around here and get to know one another.

Our sympathy goes out to all those from here who are in hospital or just recovering at home. We are thinking of you and hope you get better soon.

I've run out of news for now, folks, so everyone take care and stay healthy.
