The RM of Round Hill met for its final meeting of the year Dec 10.
For the first time in several years there is a full council of seven. Subdivisions 1 and 5 have been vacant for some time and are now represented by Albert Combres in subdivision 1 and Gordon Moore in subdivision 5.
Recently, a discussion about the population of the village broke forth at the WhistleStop. Finally we had to sit down and do a count. Rabbit Lake has a population of 116 which is one higher than the last census.
The village council is accepting submissions for a new logo. They are searching for entries that positively exemplify Rabbit Lake. For more information contact Brenda at the village office. There is a prize for the winning submission.
The Rabbit Lake Agricultural Association is holding its annual general meeting January 13 at 7:30 p.m. at the Senior Sunrise Circle in Rabbit Lake. Come to hear the last year's business in review and to give your input in the next year's happenings.
Dec. 15, the Rabbit Lake branch of Lakeland Library held its annual Christmas Tea at the seniors' centre. Door prizes were awarded to Beryl Jones, Marvin Price, Carter McMurtry and Desaray Roberts. People are reading and accepting the READ 35 Challenge. Four people have already read 35 books. You have until Februrary to get it done!
The Rabbit Lake Recreation Centre is ready for another season. The year's kick off was held Dec. 19 with registration, and free skating . Kids of all ages were on the ice. People from Sandwith, Mayfair, Mullingar and Spiritwood joined to make a good day. And yes, we were welcomed with the smell of rink burgers and fried onions. Rink season has officially begun! Chefs were Danny and Crystal Wright with Lesley Salisbury helping out. The Rec Center is always welcoming helpers for burger nights and with ice care.
Saskatoon may have the Enchanted Forest, but Rabbit Lake has a version of its own. Marvin and Linda Price's yard is something to see! Maybe a nice trip some evening.
Friends and families are beginning to come home for Christmas. Last week Cliff and Dale Rempel and daughter Angela were home to visit Dale's mother Beryl Jones. Ruth Hepp had her son Mervin for a Christmas visit as well. We look forward to seeing more familiar faces in the next week.
