Fifty-one ladies dressed in purple and white gathered at the St. Walburg Elks Hall April 22 for the58th annual District 6 meeting.
Mayor Tony Leeson and Exalted Ruler Dennis Schlekewy welcomed and addressed the ladies.
On hand were provincial president Colleen Macdonald and Lady Deanna Brazier from Choiceland, Supreme Loyal Lady Margaret Brown, along with several members of the Lloydminster lodge, Supreme Chaplain Terry Paziuk from Cut Knife and District Deputy Audrey Griffith from Meota. Members from North Battleford, Cut Knife and St. Walburg lodges were also present.
It is always amazing to hear the various interesting ways different lodges strive to raise money. All are extremely busy trying their utmost to promote the order and prove Royal Purple is a team that does make a difference. St. Walburg is excited to have Past District Deputy and Past Honoured Royal Lady Tehlma Romph accept the position of district deputy for 2012-13. She is considered the link between Distict 6 lodges. Her term begins July 1.
After the completion of the outlined agenda of the district meeting, plaques were awarded: most inter lodge visits, North Battleford, most initiates, Cut Knife; most officers present at monthly meetings, St. Walburg.
Ladies Margaret, Terry, Colleen, Deanna and Audrey shared provincial information reminding all to try to take in the provincial annual conference in Swift Current in June and the national convention in Chilliwack, B.C. in July.
The day ended with delicious supper of fried chicken and trimmings prepared and served by local Elks. Thanks to the Elks for a great job. Everyone agreed it was a great day.
