The weekend weather brought us a few sun showers with thunder and lightning. Crops are turning colour. If the good weather holds, perhaps harvest will be earlier than in recent years.
People are continuing to clean up after the July 18th windstorm. Christine Pike's trees were especially hard hit. About 50 trees were either taken out by the roots or broken off part way down. Hopefully, the trees will be hauled to a sawmill later on in the year. It is estimated that there will be 50,000 board feet of lumber cut from one of the piles in her yard.
A party honouring Brett Pike was held at the cabin of his grandparents, Gerald and Lois Pike, on Jumbo Lake. A barbecue and special evening for Brett's special birthday was attended by many family members and friends. The weather that day and evening, Aug. 13, was beautiful. Happy birthday, Brett.
Congratulations and best wishes to Heather and Brant Franks who were married Aug. 6. The wedding took place in Lloydminster with the after-the-小蓝视频 festivities taking place at the Lloydminster Stockade Convention Centre. Following their wedding trip, Heather and Brant will be living in the Maidstone area.
Spending time at the lakes has been a pastime for many district people. Helena Pike even spent a day at the lake. Friday, Aug. 12, she travelled to Loon Lake to spend the day with Dennis and Jeanette Pike and Debbie and Kirk Munro. The day was spent boating and fishing on the lake. The lake was smooth and the fish were biting well, a very relaxing time. Following the day on the lake, everyone enjoyed a fish fry at Debbie and Kirk's cabin.
