A catered Christmas birthday supper and program was held at the Maidstone Drop In Centre Dec. 12 with approximately 100 seniors in attendance. Caterers were the Catholic ladies, who provided an abundant and delicious supper.
Seated at the birthday table for November and December birthdays were Milt McMillan, Eva Inkster, Hettie Richardson, Grace Joki, Mezardy Wiltermuth, Joyce Weston and Noelle Coulthard. Missing were Wilf Dumont and Leona Bone.
The supper was followed by a program of readings, skits and singing of Christmas songs. Christmas cake, coffee and oranges finished off a most successful and enjoyable evening.
Kaiser was played Dec. 13 hosted by Lil McMillan. High score went to Jean Hartman and low to Eva Inkster.
The centre's Christmas bingo was held Dec. 15. Instead of playing for money, each player brought a $3 gift and a 50 cent gift. Those who win a bingo can pick a gift from the $3 box. Anyone winning more than one bingo is invited to choose from the 50 cent box and the person to the right of that winner, who doesn't have a $3 gift, gets to pick one. Everyone goes home with a $3 gift and some go home with a number of 50 cent gifts. It makes for a fun afternoon. Lunch followed.
Dec. 20, whist was played. Lunch was provided by Hettie Richardson, assisted by Jean Hartman. High score went to Dorothy Schwartz and low to Bev Stewart.
Happy New Year wishes to all our readers and to the newspaper staff.
