Canoeing on the Battle River appears to be a popular recreation. Recently at least two groups have canoed from the Lashburn bridge to the Waseca bridge.
July 24, Curtis Sutherland, Felicia Kelsch, Morgan and Mark Thomarat, Brenna Banks and Crystal Sutherland enjoyed the trip down the river, which is higher and swifter than in former years. They topped their journey with a wiener roast at the picnic ground on the north side of the river.
Members of the Yellowhead Ramblers band took the same trip recently. They, too, enjoyed the river journey.
Welcome to Waseca to Laurie and Ted Schenker and their eight-month-old daughter. They have taken up residence in a trailer on the west side of the village.
Crystal Sutherland has been enjoying working with Vinessa Foster of Payton who has an Outfitterss organization. They have been taking people on canoeing trips on the Waterhen River.
Last weekend Arleen Lumgair and some of her family joined members of the Doolittle family in a reunion at Turtle Lake.
The next wellness clinic at Waseca will be held in the community centre on the third Thursday in September. August will be a month off for those who work at the clinic. All adults are welcome at the clinic.
With Waseca's 100th birthday celebration successfully over, the committee met on the evening of July 13 to begin winding up the business involved with the celebration. The committee will meet once more, possibly in September, to complete their work and disband.
Robbie Maxwell is spending his summer working in Saskatoon. He plans to go back to Spain when school reopens to continue his work teaching English.
