The cadets of Royal Canadian Air Cadet Squadron (RCACS) No. 43, The Battlefords, marched for three hours Feb. 14 at the Frontier Mall, to raise money for Telemiracle 36.
The squadron of 33 cadets felt this was an important fundraiser for our province. The cadets, with encouragement from their parents and the squadron's sponsoring committee, received pledges from sponsors prior to the march.
The cadets performed a drill demonstration and then marched throughout the mall, starting at 1 p.m. and continuing until 4 p.m. Several people stopped to watch the demonstrations and others donated additional funds to the cause.
The official presentation of funds from Air Cadet Telemiracle Marchathon took place on stage at Telemiracle March 4. Other squadrons who had a marchathon were Melfort, Meadow Lake, Sherlock Davidson, Wynyard, Harvard, Preeceville, Kamsack and Knights of Columbus Lanigan, raising a total of $6,255.25.
The Battlefords squadron raised the largest individual squadron amount, $1,500, and RCACS No. 43 is grateful for all the donations and support from community members.
This was a great start for the air cadets' first ever Marchathon.
