Ann and Bob Wardhaugh of Borden and Doreen Parker of Radisson are first time great-grandparents with the birth of 10 lb. 8 oz. Haddie Quinn to Ken Whitney and Pamela Parker-Whitney of Prince George, B.C., July 26.
A bridal shower was held at the St. Paul Lutheran Church in Radisson on Tuesday, July 26 for July bride-elect, Holly Zacharias. About 25 ladies attended. Seated at the head table with Holly were her sister, Carla Dishko, and her mother, Claudia. Hostesses for the evening were Joyce Schultz, Jackie Meister, Colleen Nelson, and Twyla Stott.
Laureen S.-Cherry, Holly's classmate at school, welcomed the ladies, and explained a game, The Price is Right, in which the ladies had to guess the monetary value of a kit Laureen had prepared for the mother of teenagers. Lots of laughs were enjoyed when the items were presented. Roberta was the winner as her guess was closest.
The ladies were then entertained by a summer fashion show of very stylish and practical hats modeled by several of the guests. Holly was presented with the last hat as a gift: it was a pillbox containing some very necessary medications for a farmer's wife. This was followed by the opening of the gifts, including a number of items donated by members of the Radisson community. Holly very graciously thanked the ladies, after which all present enjoyed a delicious lunch.
Holly was married on Saturday, July 30 to Mr. Steven Hodgson. The happy couple will reside on their farm near Manor, Sask. Holly is presently employed as the district administrator at the Moosomin Hospital/Health Region.
