Last Sunday reminded us more of what autumn usually feels like. Oh well, if you did not get your fall yardwork done it is not like you did not have enough time to do it.
Now that harvest is for the most part wound up in this area, people are beginning to take an interest in other activities. This weekend will be busy in the village with the Rabbit Lake Community Hall Board hosting the annual Thanksgiving supper, Oct 8, beginning at 5 p.m. This supper is a major fundraiser for the hall. Come for some great home-cooked food, good fellowship and support for the Hall.
Old pastors never die, they just rest in their pew! Don Unger, pastor of the Hoffnungsfelder Mennonite Churches has retired and a program to celebrate this event in Don and Naomi's life is scheduled for 1:30 p.m., Sunday, Oct. 9, at the Rabbit Lake Community Hall. Everyone is welcome to come and celebrate with the Ungers.
As fall progresses we turn our thoughts to the winter season and its usual coughs and colds. An annual flu clinic will be held Oct. 17 from 10 a.m. - 2 p.m. at the Rose Gill Lodge. The flu shot is free. You are asked to wear a short-sleeved shirt and to bring your Sask. Health Card. (Don't forget to put those new stickers on your old health card.) Apparently the same clinic will be held in Mayfair Oct. 19.
The monthly potluck supper at the Rabbit Lake Senior Sunrise Circle will be held Oct. 19. Plan to attend and share a meal with your friends in the community.
The Rabbit Lake Health Care Centre ( Rose Gill Lodge) will be hosting the Hallowe'en Dance at the Rabbit Lake Community Hall, Oct. 29. The dance starts at 9 p.m. Dress up and have some fun. Remember last year when that saucy group of Canadian geese made their entrance!
Rose Gill Lodge has added another resident. We are pleased to welcome Bernice Carnahan from North Battleford to our community.
