Looking for just the perfect piece for that spot on the living room wall? You can do that and support Saskatchewan artists at the same time.

Looking for just the perfect piece for that spot on the living room wall? You can do that and support Saskatchewan artists at the same time.

The North Battleford Bonaventure Lions Club will host is 23rd annual art auction and dinner at the Chapel Gallery in North Battleford March 9.

Approximately 35 Saskatchewan artists have been invited to contribute a piece of art for the auction. The response has been positive, organizers say, resulting in a fine collection of original paintings, prints, sculptures and carvings. These will be on display at the gallery starting March 7.

The proceeds of the auction will see 50 per cent of the selling price going to the artist, 40 per cent to the designated Lions Club project and 20 per cent for expenses of the evening.

Some artists generously make a full donation of their work.

The evening also includes a silent auction of handcrafted donated items from the area.

The Battlefords Trade and Education Centre has received approval and partial funding from the provincial government for a new building to replace the old building currently in use. Such a new facility would allow for all BTEC services to be under one roof. The North Battleford Bonaventure Lions Club has designated the proceeds of the art auction and dinner this year toward the BTEC building fund.

Admission to the art auction and dinner is by advance ticket only. Ticket price is $25 each. For tickets call Dora at 445-9371, Gwen at 445-7908, Mona at 445-6141 or Fabricland at 445-1966.
