The Swift Mount Light Horse 4-H Club has had a busy couple of months.
The members enjoyed a trick horse clinic with Jackie Johnson, a professional trick horse trainer and show-person, from Regina May 14-15 at Bonanza Acres. The members taught their horses how to stand on a pedestal, bow to the crowd and lay down.
The club also took part in the Battlefords Quarter Horse Show May 28 and 29. The committee members asked the club to set up a food booth. Members were busy between competing and helping out with serving customers all day.
Next the club geared up for the annual achievement day held June 4, at the exhibition grounds. The members did well with all classes and enjoyed a barbecue with their friends and families at noon. Shirley Smith judging the classes and Mrs. Diebel judged the record books. Lillian Finch, the general leader brought out the new Club shirts the members worked hard for. All the members looked fabulous in them.
The Regional 4-H Show June 5, was lots of fun and the members enjoyed themselves fully, competing and chatting with friends and making new ones. They had a wonderful fun filled day that ended with awards and a meal put on by the Regional 4-H Council.
June 29, the club had their awards supper. Roast beef, baked potatoes and a great variety of salads with a large cake filled the menu. The Army Cadet Hall welcomed the members and their families and friends. The General Leader had a wonderful program arranged for everyone. Mrs. Prescesky had the hall decorated with the club's banner, flags and random pictures of the members in action.
After the meal the members received their plaques and year end gifts sponsored by various companies in the area. Receiving awards were: Shannice Portias, Brittney Finch-Foulston, Brady Finch-Foulston, Hannah Lapawchuk, Tristin Prescesky, Cadence Fortin, Clinton Moosak, Latral Foulston, Jaden Navarro, McKenzie Lamoureux, Brooklynn Pratt and Dakota Crowell.
Brittney Finch-Foulston earned the high aggregate award.
Thus ends another exciting year of horses, friends and having fun for the Swift Mount Light Horse 4-H Club.
