TISDALE – The Town of Tisdale will be without their main town office building due to a recent mould inspection.

Lovely Magnaye, CAO for the Town of Tisdale, told 小蓝视频, "We are moving to a temporary location and will try our best to discuss the next steps with our new council."

She added, “The Civic Centre Auditorium, Tisdale Room, and the Newsask office will be open to the public until Dec. 31, 2024.”

The Town of Tisdale recently conducted a mould and air quality test in the civic centre auditorium, town office, Legion room and the Newsask office. “The samples collected revealed a spore concentration above the recommended threshold in the Legion room and the north basement and those locations are deemed restricted effective immediately.”

In order to address the building concerns, council authorized that:

  1. The administration office be relocated to the Hanover room at the RECPlex;

  1. The recreation department will be relocated to the recreation office at the RECPlex;

  1. The Director of Public Works will be relocated to the public works shop.

  1. The administration informs the tenants of the situation and possible termination of lease agreement;

  1. The service groups will be authorized to use the Tisdale room at no cost until Dec. 31, and

  1. The civic centre/auditorium be closed to the public effective Jan. 1, 2025

Magnaye said, “The Town office is below the threshold however, but has an elevated level that could potentially be over the threshold soon. This has now been deemed as an Occupational Health and Safety concern for the town office employees because of long exposure to fungi spore could potentially have harmful effects on health.”

The Town of Tisdale had an inspection on Sept. 23. Magnaye said the building was built around 1940. “This is for council’s discussion and with the upcoming election, it will be for next council’s decision.”

Magnaye said it is the Town of Tisdale’s priority to ensure the health and safety of staff and the users of this facility.
