RM OF KINISTINO — A house in the RM of Kinistino was lost due to fire.
At 12:42 p.m. on March 25, the Melfort Fire Department was dispatched out to a house fire in the RM of Kinistino. Melfort Fire Department arrived to a fully engulfed structure.
Upon arrival, a fully involved structure was found. A water shuttle was set up immediately, initially from Melfort, then from James Smith Reserve. No occupants were in the building upon arrival.
A second engine from Melfort was called to assist in shuttling water. Unfortunately, the house was a total loss. New fire chief Leonard Whitney told SASKTODAY.ca seven firefighters attended the scene. The cause of the fire is unknown at this time. On average the Melfort Fire department attends 20 to 25 structure fires annually.
EMS attended the scene to treat some minor injuries. The Melfort fire department wanted to thank the RCMP, EMS, SaskEnergy for attending the scene and James Smith First Nation for the water. All trucks were back in service at 7:28 p.m.
