NIPAWIN — The Town of Nipawin has signed a new contract with its workers.

The new collective agreement with the Canadian Union of Public Employees Local 777-01 includes a four per cent increase in 2024, three per cent in 2025 and three per cent in 2026. It is in effect from Jan. 1, 2024 to Dec. 31, 2026.

Michele Sorensen, Nipawin's chief administrative officer, said the main changes were updating the wording for clarity, the pay increase, and the sick credit payout.

“The negotiations went very well and thought both the employee’s negotiating committee members and the employer’s team worked together.”

The contract was passed unanimously by Nipawin council at their March 11 council meeting. The same percentage increase was also approved for out-of-scope employees.
