NIPAWIN – The Town of Nipawin has approved a new score-clock purchase for the Jubilee arena.
Nipawin council approved the purchase of the Scoreboard from Big Hill Services for just under $12,000 at their Oct.15 council meeting.
Chelsea Corrigan, General Manager of Leisure Services, said, “Parts on the clock cannot be replaced or are becoming increasingly difficult to find replacement parts for. We believe this was the original scoreboard back from when the Jubilee was constructed in 1985 or close to around that time.”
Corrigan said the Town of Nipawin is deeply grateful to the Vanity Cup Board for their generous contribution of $10,000 toward the new scoreboard. “This significant donation reflects the board's commitment to supporting the community, and it plays a vital role in enhancing the facility for all who use it. Contributions like these are instrumental in helping us improve local amenities, and we extend our sincere appreciation to the Vanity Cup Board for their continued investment in Nipawin's future.”
Quotes for the Jubilee arena scoreboard were received from two companies. In accordance with the Town of Nipawin's procurement policy, purchases between $5,000 and $20,000 require obtaining quotes from at least three qualified vendors.
Nipawin administration could only source quotes from two companies that met the facility’s specific requirements. After consultation with the Leisure Services Supervisor, the recommendation is to proceed with the Big Hill Services scoreboard, as it best fits the arena’s operational requirements, it said in Corrigan’s recommendation.
The scoreboard has been ordered after approval of council. Nipawin leisure services staff will likely have to install it in the spring once the regular hockey season has slowed down.
