December 28, 1937 - February 9, 2014

The death of Mrs. Theresa Pauline (nee Brecht) Klashinsky of Bethany Pioneer Village, Middle Lake, SK, occurred at her residence on Sunday, February 9, 2014. She was 76 years of age. Theresa was born on December 28, 1937, to John Sr. and Monica (nee Kosokowsky) Brecht at home on their farm nine miles north of Viscount, SK. She grew up there and attended Lucasville and Auckland rural schools. In 1956, Theresa moved to Humboldt and began a banking career at the Bank of Nova Scotia. On October 12, 1957, she married David "Dave" Klashinsky in St. John's Country Church, which was located close to the Brecht farm. Following their wedding, Theresa and Dave moved to Saskatoon. During that time, Theresa was able to transfer to the Eighth Street and Clarence Avenue branch of Scotia Bank. They resided in Saskatoon for three years and then returned to Humboldt. In September 1960, Theresa began her banking career with CIBC. In 1962, Theresa and Dave's son Dean was born, and in July 1965, their daughter Debra was born. Theresa was a loving wife and mother, and truly enjoyed domestic chores, especially cooking, baking and gardening. A hard-working and ambitious lady, she also continued working at the bank until 1993, when she retired. A community-minded person, Theresa was a member of the Futuristic Industries board, and also helped with the clients with various activities, especially bowling, a sport she loved herself. Throughout their life, Theresa and Dave travelled extensively throughout the world and spent many winters in Arizona. They also shared a passion for music, and had their own little band. They entertained at innumerable functions and for a variety of occasions all around Humboldt and area, and in Arizona during their vacations there. Theresa will be lovingly remembered by her son, Dean Klashinsky of Humboldt; daughter, Debra (Russ) Thomas of Pilot Butte; four sisters and three brothers: Madeline Hyland and Mary Koczka, both of Saskatoon; Peter Brecht of Regina; Winnie Fink of Saskatoon; Ben (Jan) Brecht of Regina; Philip (Bev) Brecht of Blairmore, AB; and Brigetta (Bob) Bodnarchuk of Saskatoon; and by numerous nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her husband, Dave Klashinsky (January 26, 2013); parents, John Sr. and Monica (nee Kosokowsky) Brecht; four brothers and one sister: Nicolaus Brecht, Wendelin Brecht, George (Elsie) Brecht, Annie (Tony) Gusikoski, and John Brecht Jr.; brothers-in-law: Charlie Hyland, Johnny Koczka, and Joe Fink; and by sister-in-law, Helen Brecht. The Funeral Mass was offered at St. Augustine R.C. Church, Humboldt, on Thursday, February 13, 2014, at 2:00 p.m., celebrated by Fr. Gregory Roth. Scripture readers were Val Tataryn and Janice Street, and intentions were led by Carol Larre. Music ministry was provided by the St. Augustine Parish Funeral Choir. Honorary pallbearers were "all those who shared in Theresa's life". Active pallbearers were Steve Klashinsky, Brian Klashinsky, Jerome Gusikoski, Terry Gusikoski, Marcel Larre and Dale Bodnarchuk.
