STROEDER: Stanley

Ìý

The family of Stanley Stroeder, 78 years, of Humboldt and formerly of Englefeld, are saddened to announce his passing on Sunday, September 4, 2016 at Humboldt District Hospital. Stanley was born on July 29, 1938 at home on the farm in the Beechy district to Joseph and Mamie (nee Jarvenpaa) Stroeder. He grew up on the farm, attending the local country school, finishing grade 8. Stanley then began farming with his dad. He attended the University of Saskatchewan School of Agriculture for their two year program and then returned home to farm. When his father passed away he took over the farm and then bought more land from his uncle. In 1966, at a bowling tournament in Saskatoon, Stanley met Dolores Bieker and they were married on October 14, 1967. They moved to Dolores’ family farm where they rented land from her brother and began raising pigs. From 1979 until this past winter, Stanley worked away in the winters in the oil patch. The family also started a sod farm at Englefeld which their son Jerry now operates. Stanley was a member of the Farmer’s Union and the Englefeld Knights of Columbus. He had a flair for adventure, owning a motorcycle when younger and participating in sky diving, parasailing, gliding and ziplining. Stanley enjoyed hunting each fall. He loved country music festivals, travelling around to different ones each summer. He loved collecting antiques of all kinds but his pride and joy was his restored 65 T-Bird. In 2003, Stanley and Dolores moved to Humboldt. Because of his interest in antiques, he joined the Humboldt Vintage Club and has been a member for the past 13 years. Stanley will be lovingly remembered and sadly missed by his wife of 48 years, Dolores Stroeder of Humboldt; their two sons and one granddaughter: Jerry-Joe Stroeder (Renae Kleiter) of Englefeld and his daughter Jasper, and Dean Stroeder of Calgary, AB; daughter-in-law Stacey Stroeder of Humboldt; in-laws: Marge (Ed) Hujber of Red Deer, AB, Vyenda (Dennis) Korte of Humboldt, Lisa (Dean) Clark of Outlook, Helen Bieker of McCook, NE and Diane McConville of Marshfield, MO; and numerous nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his parents Joseph and Mamie Stroeder; parents-in-law Gregory and Elizabeth Bieker; and brother-in-law Ron Bieker. The Prayer Service for Stanley was held on Wednesday, September 7, 2016 at 7:30 p.m. at Malinoski & Danyluik Funeral Home, led by Marlene VanDresar. The Funeral Mass was held on Thursday, September 8, 2016 at 2:00 p.m. at Holy Guardian Angels Roman Catholic Church, Englefeld, celebrated by Fr. Francis Akomeah. Interment followed in the Parish Cemetery. Memorial donations in Stanley’s memory may be made to the Saskatchewan Cancer Agency or Holy Guardian Angels Cemetery. Funeral arrangements were entrusted to Malinoski & Danyluik Funeral Home, Humboldt.
